God's Promises: Day 8: He will provide
/I had to take a couple days off because...life happens... but I'm back at it this beautiful Sunday morning with Romans 8:32 " He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?"
This is one of those verses that makes me stop and really take it in. It makes me think about the immense love that God has for us.
God allowed his Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer on the cross for US.
If you have a child, you know the level of protection you have over them. You want to protect them from any harm or evil in this world. When you see them hurt, you would take the pain from them in a heartbeat if you could. Well God did have that power. He could have stopped His Son's suffering, but He didn't, because He knew what that would mean for us. Think about that for just a minute. God chose to let His Son die on the cross so that we could have eternal life with Him!
Thats the biggest concept I get from this verse. God's love for us is HUGE. The second thing I gather from Romans 8:32 is that God WILL provide for us. When Paul says "graciously give us all things", he's not saying we can pray to win the lottery, and then BAM, there's a million bucks. God expects us to work. He makes it very clear that laziness will get you nowhere in life.
"A sluggard's appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied." Proverbs 13:4
There's verse after verse in the book of Proverbs like this stating that God does not reward the lazy.
But there's also verse after verse of how God will provide for those who have put in the work, and not just those who work diligently professionally, but also spiritually.
"For the Lord God is a sun and a shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless." Psalm 84:11
When we see others going through difficult times... whether its finances, relationships, job, etc... it is so easy for us to see from the outside in and know that God will provide. We can stand on God's promises to give others encouragement. But what about when its us going through a certain struggle? We don't question whether or not God can do things, so why question if He will do it for us? His promises are just as true for us as they are for everyone else who puts their faith in him.
