God's Promises: Day 11: His Word is Faithful

Hebrews 10:23 "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful."

Have you ever completely trusted someone with all of their heart only to be let down when they do not follow through with their word?  It's hurtful.  You feel betrayed.  Loyalty is a precious quality to find in a person, but unfortunately in this world, selfishness often takes precedence.  Imagine having a person in your life that you never have to worry about betraying you, a person whose faithfulness is more than you could ever imagine.  It sounds comforting, right?  I have found that person, and his name is Jesus Christ.  In a world where loyalty runs thin and faithfulness is not protected, you can trust that God, His Word, and His promises will always remain true... that He will always remain faithful.

A few weeks ago, I was attending a church service where the lead Pastor was retiring after 40 years and handing his position over to the new Pastor.  The new Pastor was sharing his story of how God had brought him to this position.  At the age of 15, he was attending a revival at the church.  He went up for prayer, and the lead Pastor had a word for him.  The word for him that day was that God had great things in store for him with ministry, and that he needed to keep his ways pure.  As a 15 year old, he had expected to see something instant happen.  But throughout the years, that word always stuck with him, and he remained obedient to God... to stay pure.  Little did he know, that 25 years later that word would come true, and he would take the place of the Pastor that prayed over him.  It took 25 years, but God's word remained true, and his promises remained faithful.  That was a huge message of hope for me and EXACTLY what I needed to hear.

I heard 3 things from that message:

1.  Be obedient to God

2.  Blessings follow obedience

3.  God's word always remains faithful

I am so thankful, that in a world where loyalty is often a rare quality to find, I never have to question God's faithfulness.
