God's Promises, Day 3: "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Do you ever have a hard time trusting in God?  Believing that He will pull through for you like it says in His Word?  I'm not always consistent with spending time with God, but I always enjoy spending time in prayer.  It's in those moments when I am talking to Jesus, that my thoughts become more clear, my heart begins to get softer, and I start regaining my confidence in Christ.  So many times, my prayers will start by telling Jesus that I am having a hard time trusting in Him.  I'll just talk to Him, as if He were a friend sitting right next to me.  I'll let him know my requests, my heart's desires, my concerns, my struggles... and then my prayers that started off with hints of doubt will make a shift.  I'll remember the promises that He has made to me, and then those promises will ring loud and true again.

Have you heard the song "Hills and Valleys" by Tarren Wells yet?  If not, listen to it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4rRCjrAyCs.  It is beautiful.  The words are so real.

"On the mountains, I will bow my life to the one who set me there

In the valley, I will lift my eyes to the one who sees me there

When I'm sitting on the mountain aft, didn't get there on my own

When I'm walking through the valley end, no I am not alone!

You're the God of the hills and valleys!"

It says in Hebrews 13:5 "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

This verse is a promise, and just like Tarren Well's song, also a reminder that God will never leave us.  Even in the moments when it feels hard to trust that God is there, He will never leave us.

There's a few key points that I get from Hebrews 13:5.

First, be content with what you have.  There's nothing wrong with striving to be better, or working hard to reach your goals, but do not covet what other people have.  You know the saying, "The grass is not always greener on the other side.  Its greener where you water it."  Its so cheesy, lol, but also so true.  Imagine how much greener your own grass will be if you allow God to do the watering!!

Second,  God will never leave you.  Look at your life.  Know that what you have was given to you by God and given to you for a purpose.   There is no comparison to something that is blessed by God!  Use your gifts and talents to glorify Him and trust that He will continue to bless you.  Even in those moments where things seems to be a struggle and life feels a little too hard, stand firm in God's promises that HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU.  Faith is the hardest during difficult times.  Stay faithful to God and watch the blessings that will come from it.
